How to switch to DHCP
Hello!
This is Bill from SYIX.COM Tech Support.
If you are not one of our customers then it doesn't apply to you. If you have already done this then it doesn't apply to you. If you have not received an email or a phone call from us yet regarding changing to DHCP then this doesn't apply to you. If you are on dial up then this doesn't apply to you.
You are here because we are in the process of switching our DSL customers over from static IPs to Dynamic IPs. This will allow us, a short time from now, to give you better, more consistant speeds for your Internet connections but we have to change everyone over first. To do this you must take out the current IP addresses from your computer or router.
If you have only one computer hooked up to DSL and NO ROUTER then please click here to download the program WinsockXPFix.exe and get ready to run it but don't run it before you call us. You will have to call our tech support office just before you run it so we can take your route out of our routing server. If you run the program and don't call us first then your Internet will not work. Our hours are from 8 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday and from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday.
If you don't know if you have a router then please give us a call at the number below and we will help you determine if you have one or not.
If you have a router and know how to get into it then you can set it up on its initial web interface page to DHCP but please call us first at the number below before you switch. You should make sure that your router has the latest firmware. If you don't know how to check and update it then you should bring it in with its power supply so we can update it and change it for you. In any case, you should reboot your router (unplug it from power for 10 seconds - be sure the lights on the front of it go off - and then plug the power back in and be sure the lights come back on) after the change has been made.
If you need a static IP for your business then please call us at the number below.
The WinsockXPFix program that you are going to run will look like this:

Tech Support Phone Number is 755-1751, Ext 8
